QuoteRetriever Description |
|
| |
QuoteRetriever software enables users to download up to 400 stocks at a time, per portfolio list, and display the quote data on the QuoteRetriever interface.
This allows users to track both stocks that are in their current portfolio and equities in their watch lists all from a single interface. Stocks with a positive percentage price change for the day appear in green, while stocks with negative returns for the day appear in red. This enables users to quickly identify stock price changes. Other features of QuoteRetriever include:
Sort quote data alphabetically to enable fast location of stocks of interest. Sort quote data by percent change for the day to identify stocks making large moves. There is automatic refresh option that retrieves quotes at a specified time interval. Select one of the automatic sort features to have quote data sorted either alphabetically or by percent change, after all of the quotes have loaded into the interface. Use the Find symbol button to quickly look-up quotes on the display. Quote data is derived from finance.yahoo.com (basic quotes), which are delayed. The default symbol list is stored in a text file, input.txt (the default protfolio). Quote symbols are entered one per line. This allows for changes to your quote list to be made easily. Multiple portfolio lists can be used track many types of investment ideas. For example, you can have a list with the Dow Industrial stocks, a list containing your own holdings, a list of the Nasdaq 100 stocks, etc. To create a new portfolio list just enter the stocks symbols in a text file (i.e. Notepad file), 1 per line, with up to 400 symbols in a portfolio list and save the file in your QuoteRetriever working directory. In addition to the quote data being displayed and manipulated in the QuoteRetriever interface, a copy of the most recently retrieved data is also stored in a file called, PortfolioName_data.txt, where PortfolioName refers to the name of the text file containing the list of stock symbols. This way, the most recent data for each portfolio list is saved. The data files are in space delimited format. This allows users to export quote data to other programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel) for further analysis. At the bottom of the QuoteRetriever interface, advanced/decline statistics are displayed for the portfolio list your are currently retrieving quotes for. Now you can keep your own advance/decline statistics. Windows 98/NT/2000/XP compatibility. |
