What is LSZip?
With LSZip you can add industry-standard Pkzip and WinZip compatible data compression capabilities to your own programs. Our data compression libraries allow to create and manage Zip archives in your Windows XP/2000/NT, Me/98/95, and even Windows 3.1x applications without having to shell out to a 'DOS' session. Time critical routines are written in fast, highly-optimized assembler code and can perform at speeds up to 200% faster than other Zip libraries.

Disk-Spanning
One of the coolest things about Zip archive files is the ability to span them across multiple disks. LSZip Compression Library supports Pkzip and WinZip compatible disk-spanning (no external dll is required).

LSZip allows most data compression tasks to be accomplished with only a few lines of code. LSZip is ideal for zipping or unzipping files on demand, compressing database fields, preparing files for transmission, compressing images and large text into BLOBs, decompressing images and text from BLOBs into controls, automating backups, and compressing your application's data files. The result is a massive saving in disk space and disk or network access.
The 'in-memory' compression and decompression works directly without using temporary file Input/Output. This is Compression on The Fly and you can compress data without your users even knowing it! You can put compression and decompression into your application and keep it totally hidden from the user. You can give your users the benefit of minimal storage requirements, but not bother them with the details.
