What are PDF files? PDF (Portable Document Format) files represent printed material electronically. When viewed and printed, these electronic documents contain all the fonts, graphical information, layout and formatting of your original printed document.
A PDF file can be viewed and printed on any operating system including MacOS and all Unix variants, including Linux with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Font embedding: Ensures that the original fonts used in a document are displayed even if the reader of the PDF does not have the fonts installed on his or her computer.
Combines multiple documents into a single PDF: Increases the convenience of document delivery by having a single PDF that contains material from different sources. For example, a document may have a cover sheet created in Quark, body content from Word and financial addenda created in Excel. This function is automatic. Just keep printing documents to pdfFactory and they will automatically be concatenated.
Page insertion and deletion: Allows unwanted material to be deleted before the PDF is created. This is especially useful when creating PDFs from long reports, email and web pages.
Send via email: One mouse click sends PDFs through your default email program.
Automatic Optimized Compression
Preview: Allows quick, accurate previewing of the PDF, including up to 400% zoom, without saving the file first and without opening Acrobat.
Font Embedding Assistant: Displays the fonts used in a document and recommends which fonts should be embedded BEFORE the PDF is created.
Advanced file naming options: Allows easy default selection of file names so that in most instances it is not necessary to type a file name.
International font support: Asian, Central European, symbol, and other non-ANSI fonts are supported.
AutoSave: Saves entire contents of pdfFactory sessions automatically so retrieve previously compiled PDFs.
Unattended operation: Can be set up to generate PDFs without any user interface or user interaction. |
