Mavica Camera Utility Description |
|
| |
Sony Mavica digital cameras write picture files to a standard 3 1/2 2HD floppy diskette. The diskette produced typically contains an HTML page, the full size images in JPEG format and a small, hidden thumbnail file with the file extension 411 which is used to show previews on the camera itself.
The Fx Mavica Manager utility has been written to quickly and easily copy the pictures files from your Mavica created floppy disks to your hard drive or a network drive, convert the 411 files to bitmaps then clean the floppy with one mouse click.
Mavica Digital Camera Utility has three panels. The left Source panel includes a list of all the files on your floppy disk, the center Preview panel shows a small preview of the image, and the right Target panel contains a list of the pictures that you intend to save. Once you have populated the Target list you may batch process all the files in the right panel, saving them to your hard drive using the name prefix you have selected in Options with an auto-incremented number appended.
Mavica Digital Camera Utility options include the wildcard filter used to display source files, the source drive or folder, whether or not a preview will display, the default target folder, the numeric suffix appended to saved files, the name prefix and a default editor.
You may also manage the files that you have saved to your hard drive and edit them individually as represented in the above screen shot.
The tiny, hidden raw bitmap 411 files that the camera writes to the floppy are essentially useless to the camera owner as they are. However the Fx, Mavica Manager software can convert files to bitmaps that you can use as thumbnails on a web page or in a computer based photo album. |
