DingoTel PC Description |
|
| |
When you first launch PC you will be prompted to create a login and user profile. You will need to use a valid email address and create an alias. You may also give additional information for your user profile which will be viewable to other DingoTel users. We will keep your email private. Our privacy policy states that we will not sell your information to third parties so you can rest easy.
Creating Contacts After you have logged on you will need to create new contacts. All you will need is your intended contacts email address and PC does the rest. If they are not a member of the DingoTel Network, you can send an invite email requesting them to join.
Making Calls Dingo Call Choose one of your contacts from the list and hit the Dingo call button. The icon next to each contact shows their current status: offline; online; talking or busy.
Phone Call with +Dial Hit the phone call button to bring up the dial pad. The status bar at the bottom shows your connection information to our secure servers and your remaining credit. To make a call, input the country code, area code and phone number you want to call and hit the dial button. Currently when the other party hangs up the call, the call timer will continue to count down untill you hit the hangup button. You will not be charged after the call has ended and we are working to fix this in the next release.
How it works DingoTel uses various technologies to perform VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). The first is Microsofts Direct Play Voice which is also used extensively in gaming. This allows excellent support for dealing with firewalls and NAT (network address translation).
The second is Peer to Peer networking. This is a buzzword at the moment and encompasses many different ideas, so lets explain our implementation in more detail. The DingoTel Network allows users to connect directly to one another without going through a central server. Unlike other programs that use similar technology, DingoTel does not force the use your computers resources for facilitating other peoples calls. |
