Office 2000 SR-1a Description |

Microsoft recommends that you install the SR-1a update using the Product Updates tool. Note The actual file size will depend on what you already have installed. The actual download time will depend on your modem speed and what needs to be installed. The file size and download time indicated on this page represent the initial time it will take for us to determine which patches need to be applied to your machine. The actual file size varies between 26-40 MB; the actual download time at 28.8k is between 2-3 hours.
The Office 2000 SR-1a update includes the original Office 2000 SR-1 update and the Office 2000 SR-1/Windows 2000 Utility: Registry Repair. The functionality of this utility is the only addition to the SR-1a update. If you have already installed the SR-1 update and have not upgraded from Windows NT 4 to Windows 2000, you do not need this utility.
If you have upgraded from Windows NT 4 to Windows 2000 and have already installed the SR-1 update, you should only install the Office 2000/Windows 2000 Repair Utility. We recommend that users install the latest version of Windows Installer before installing the SR-1a update. Windows 2000 users do not require the Windows Installer update. Windows 95 and 98 users can download Windows Installer 2.0 and Windows NT 4.0 users can download Windows Installer 2.0 for Windows NT 4.0. If you have Microsoft Word 2000 installed as part of Microsoft Works 2000 Suite, you should also install the latest version of Windows Installer before installing the SR-1a update. Office 2000 SR-1a provides important product updates to Office 2000. Although some of these updates are currently available separately, SR-1a is a convenient way to receive the latest updates in one place. Microsoft recommends that all Office 2000 customers upgrade to Office 2000 SR-1a to receive the latest updates and optimal benefits, including:
Updates for the various Office 2000 programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, FrontPage*, and Publisher
Security updates, including the Excel 2000 SYLK file security updates and the Worm.Explore.Zip (Pack) Virus Alert, and the ODBC Vulnerability Update Office 2000 system-level components that are updated to Windows 2000 system levels. |
